The Creed Family

The Creed family history in the district began in 1869. Some four generations later George and Leonie continue the Creed tradition of producing beef with sons, Andrew & Ron, and their wives, Nancy & Helen. Trading as Creed Grazing Co., George and Leonie registered as members of A.B.B.A. in 1964 as member number 1164.

The introduction of Brahmans to a district that was predominantly Hereford and Shorthorn was revolutionary to the general management of ticks and the strength of the herd during dry times was significant.

Brahmans held a lot of misconceptions in the early stages when George and Leonie purchased their first bull, Banyak Suka Demetrious De Manso. Through careful selection of Avondale, Banyak Suka, Cherokee, Burnside and Garuda bloodlines in the early days, a strong genetic herd base was established.

Today within the 1200 breeder herd our strong red bloodlines have expanded with genetics from several leading studs including Tartrus, Lancefield, Carinya and Rockley as well as other smaller studs.

From the establishment of the Brahman herd the family have always held to the guidelines of “bigger frame – more beef” with attention to temperament and sheath tidiness. As the operation is also commercial they are very aware of the market requirements. Attention is placed on producing, growing and fattening stock  to meet the prime market.

In the past bulls were marketed through Rockhampton Brahman Week as well as paddock sales. Old Station red bulls are quiet, efficient and fertile. They are always sold with a guarantee. Repetitive buyers are a clear indication that Old Station bulls are doing the job in the paddock. Being coastal bred cattle, they will continue to grow and develop in any other type of country.

Annually two year old red heifers are offered for sale in bulk numbers. These heifers are surplus to requirements and would be the pride of any cattleman.

An essential part of the general operation of the property are the Cessna aircraft. They are an economical tool in the management of waters, cattle and the property. The family owns, maintains and operates a selection of machinery that assists in day-to-day property maintenance.

The family have always been very involved in supporting the community and helping raise money for charity organizations such as the Capricorn Helicopter Rescue service. In fact George has been awarded the Order of Australian Medal (OAM) for service to local government and the community.

Due to dry seasons and hard economic times, the family have diversified into tourism. The family trading as Langmorn Tours have been welcoming guests for several years offering a range of services as detailed on this site.
